Macie, Dillan and Dakotah

Mommy and Daddy told my brothers and sister about us tonight. We were all a little nervous about how they would react. It’s been a long time since there has been a baby in their house and now there will be two of us. They took the news really well. Dakotah said it was cool, Dillan thinks we’re weird because we’ll be identical, and Macie really, really wants us to be girls. :) We’ll see how excited they are when we are born and start crying. We are going to have so much fun with our brothers and sister. We already love them very much and can’t wait to play with them. Dakotah said he would take us hunting, even if we’re girls. Macie says that she will have fun pushing us in the stroller and she wants to hold us all the time. Dillan still just thinks we’re weird, but we’re hoping he will teach us how to build things with legos. :)

Big Week Ahead

Mommy is starting to feel better. Sweet for Mommy! She is also starting to have more energy. Daddy says it is good to have Mommy back. Silly Daddy, she was never lost. :) We’re getting ready for our Christmas surprises and Mommy and Daddy finished everything up tonight.

This week our bones will begin to harden and even though our skin is still very transparent, our fingers and toes will be completely separated. Mommy still can’t feel us moving, but we are very active. We have to move as much as we can while there is still room enough to do it. :) We will be about two and a half inches long and we weigh about a half of an ounce by the end of the week. Can you believe this is already week 11?

The Ward Christmas Party

Mommy and Daddy were in charge of the Ward Christmas party this year and today, they have been busy setting up and getting ready. They have had lots of great help and everything went fabulous. The program was awesome and afterwards my Daddy’s nephew Jason and his daughter came over and played games with us. It was really fun!

Mommy and Daddy are still keeping us a secret, but it is getting really hard for Mommy not to tell. She is starting to get really excited and she wants to share the news, but we all agreed to keep it a secret until Christmas. One more week and we can tell. Patience, Mommy, patience.

When Mommy lies on her back, she can feel a little bulge in her tummy…that’s us! :) We have fingernails and toenails now and our hair is starting to grow. Our fingers are no longer webbed and we can swallow and kick our little legs. We are about 2 inches long, about the size of a lime and we weigh about a quarter of an ounce a piece. We’re going to get bigger, and bigger and bigger! :)

Graduation Day!

We’re officially graduating from embryos to fetuses. Pretty cool huh? The majority of our vital organs are functioning and will continue to mature as we grow in our Mommy’s tummy. Our heads are half the length of our bodies right now, but as our bodies continue to grow, they will become about a third of our length by the time we’re born. All these changes are very exhausting, but it’s necessary. Heavenly Father told us it would be a lot of work and he was right!

Mommy is still sick, but luckily it has not been in her lungs at all. She is really, really forgetful though. She went to pick up Grandpa’s Christmas present for Grandma and locked her keys in the car. Daddy had to come rescue her.

Mommy Gets Sick

Poor Mommy! We have been so good to her, but she got a head cold and she can’t take anything for it because of us. She is a little loopy and she is trying to get the Christmas shopping done for my siblings. Daddy has been so good to her too. He has been very patient and he’s very protective. We love our Daddy! He helped Mommy a lot today and she is so grateful to have him…and us. :)

Today is also Aunt Jill’s and Grandma Ann’s birthdays. Happy Birthday to both of you from us!!

All of our little joints are working and we can move around, but Mommy still can’t feel us yet. Our hearts have divided into four chambers and we’re working on developing our heart valves. We can also make a fist now and we’re learning how to suck on our thumbs. There is still plenty of room for both of us. We are about the size of a grape, a little over an inch and a half from our head to our rump and we each weigh a fraction of an ounce. :)

Mommy’s First Doctors Appointment

Today was Mommy’s first doctor’s appointment and she was really nervous. Her regular doctor doesn’t deliver babies anymore, so she had to find a new one. Daddy came with her to our appointment. First, we met with our ultrasound technician. Her name is Darla and she was very nice. She started the ultrasound and asked Mommy if any twins ran in her family. Mommy looked at Daddy like “What were you discussing while I was changing?” Daddy didn’t say anything, but Darla laughed. She said, “No honey, that question is for you.” Mom told her she had a couple of cousins who had fraternal twins. Darla started moving the ultrasound around and said, “Congratulations, here is baby one and baby two!”

SURPRISE MOMMY AND DADDY!!!!! THERE ARE TWO OF US – TWINS!!!!!

Mommy was so shocked, she couldn’t say anything for almost 10 minutes. We giggled, the look on her face was so funny to us. Daddy was like a rock – he was so calm. Darla told them everything looked really good. She could tell we were identical because we share the same placenta but have different sacs. She said Mommy and we were about 9 weeks along and we’re the 17th set of twins their clinic was taking care of right now. She measured our heartbeats and they are really fast – between a 140-160 beats per minute. Then Darla nudged us with the ultrasound wand and we started squirming and Mommy and Daddy got to see us move for the very first time. After Darla measured us and said everything looked really good. She took some pictures of us. I’m not sure she knows how to work the camera, because we came out all fuzzy. LOL :)

After Darla was done with our ultrasound, Mommy got dressed, we moved into the doctor’s exam room. While we were waiting for the doctor to come in, Mommy started feeling overwhelmed and she burst into tears. All she could do was look at the ultrasound pictures and cry. Daddy just hugged her (and us) and said everything would work out and we were a great blessing. Daddy’s right…we’re completely AWESOME!!! :)

When Dr. Merrill came in, she put Mommy right at ease and we all liked her right away. I think she’ll take good care of us. She answered all our questions and told Mommy to come back in 3 weeks. Mommy was a little dazed the rest of the day. Daddy sent her a text message to tell her he never expected to be this excited about twins. I think it is finally starting to sink in for Mommy. We had a really hard time keeping this all a secret! Whew! We’re glad they know now!

We Love Family

We went to Grandpa & Grandma Jones’ for dinner again. This time my brothers and sister were with us. Quinn and Kari were the only ones who were missing and it was a fun evening. We had lots of good food left over from my Grandparent’s Ward Christmas Party and we had so much fun. Uncle DJ was teasing Mommy about needing to have a baby and Daddy and Mommy just smiled. Ha, ha…they are going to be so surprised!

I’m beginning to look more like a little person, since my embryonic tail is now completely gone. My eyelids are completely formed and have fused shut. They will reopen during the 28th week of my development.
